The story of the cow & Economic Inequality and a Shrinking Middle Class as Fuel for Global Conflict?

Economic Inequality and a Shrinking Middle Class as Fuel for Global Conflict?

As many economists, etc. will say, many thought leaders and politicians know 'what' to do, the problem is that it creates short-term pain for long-term gain.

I'm reminded of the story of the farmer and the cow. He knows he needs to leave some milk for the cow to give to a calf; but, his family is hungry. So, he takes all of the cows milk (maybe he even sells some) and then, when the cow gets old and their are no young cows, he has to find someone to blame other than himself (herself).

Europe has many extreme examples of the  social welfare state, where citizens fight to protect labor laws and social benefits and ignore the fact that there are too few jobs for young people. After all, it is the young people who will need to have jobs if the pay-as-you-go welfare and retirement systems are to continue to function.
