And while this has a geopolitical bias to it, he really comments more on the cultural aspects of populism and what I call the fragmentation of society. Ian sees “Us Versus Them” everywhere, and notes that it is getting worse because of the growing disparity of incomes and wealth, and distressingly the lack of opportunities for large portions of the population. While globalization has been lifted billions out of poverty, it also made jobs disappear which will not return....
